Vinnie Charleen McCollough Obituary

Moultrie, GA - Vinnie Charleen McCollough passed away on May 4, 2025, at the age of 81.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Donald Augustus McCollough.

She was an amazing mom, deeply devoted to her family and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She lived for her children, always striving to see us succeed and encouraging us to become better parents—and better people—than she and our dad. The standard was high because they were truly incredible people themselves.

Mom was always involved in our lives—school, extracurriculars, and all the moments in between. What stood out were the little extras: pausing in the middle of cooking dinner to run outside, dish towel over her shoulder, and take her turn in kickball; weekly game nights that brought joy to us all—just as much for her as for us. She was an amazing cook, a compassionate listener, and our biggest supporter.

As we got older, she joined the workforce and enjoyed a long, successful career with the Internal Revenue Service. Later, she became "Grandma" or "Ammaw" to 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was their best playmate—whether it was dress-up, Barbies, laser tag, Nerf darts, badminton, skating, or sock wars. She would spend all day in the lake, playing like a kid right alongside them.

There are countless cherished memories, far too many to list. She was truly amazing and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her four children, their children, and grandchildren: Reverend James McCollough and Amy; Jamy and Nick Teasly (Nora); Ali and Matthew Sudderth (Meredith); Jean-Ann and Micah Schanie (Emory); Amanda McCollough; Tom McCollough; Alicia McCollough; Dasha and Brandon Wilson (Micah, Jordyn, Za'eyre, and Xa); Lisa Manning and Scott; Jessica and Craig Petty (Abigail, Caroline, and Scarlet); William Manning; David McCollough and Sandi; Elizah DeMott (Tripp and Shiloh); Kailey and Michael Murray.

She is also survived by her sister, Neva Mae Collier, and her brother, Charlie Bennett, and his wife, Marcia.

Charleen requested no services. If you would like to honor her memory, the family asks that donations be made on her behalf to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Both of our parents believed each generation should be better than the last. They often welcomed our friends into their home, feeding them and nurturing their souls—even when money was tight. They offered the same love and life lessons to their grandchildren's friends as well, always encouraging growth, kindness, and joy.
