Thomas Wilson Wommack "Pop Pop", 88, of Madison Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2025 at his home in Madison Georgia. He was surrounded by members of his loving family at the time of his passing.

Born on January 23, 1937, He was the youngest son of the late Milton and Athalaine Wommack of Glenwood, Georgia. Tom graduated from Glenwood High School in 1953 and pursued his higher education receiving an associate's degree at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, BS in Education from Georgia Teachers College, master's degree from Georgia Southern University and an EDS degree from The University of Georgia.

His lifelong career in education began with teaching math at Marboro County High School in South Carolina. Tom's Georgia roots called him back home and he began teaching bookkeeping, math, and typing at Vidalia High School. He also coached football, girls' basketball, and baseball teams at Vidalia.

His administrative experience began as a principal at First Street Elementary school in Vidalia, Georgia. In 1971, Tom began working for the Crisp County School system as the Assistant Superintendent for instruction. In 1974, he was named the Superintendent of Colquitt County Schools where he served for over 14 years. In January 1989, Tom began working with the State Department of education as a Regional Services director working directly with the Governor's office and State School Superintendent. In 1991, Tom began working with Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) as Director of Legal and Legislative services for 21 years and retired in December 2012.

Tom was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Madison, where his unwavering faith and love for his community were evident through Tom's active participation and dedication to the church. His passion for educating others was demonstrated through his servant leadership and how he supported others during his career. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Alleyne Tully Wommack, who stressed to Tom the importance of living a life of faith, family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother Edward Wommack, sister-in-law Janice O'Brien Wommack, brothers-in-law Jim Brasington, and Jim Turner.

Survivors include his five children; Shawn Wommack of Woodbury, Georgia; Brian and Lisa Wommack of Bogart, Georgia; Erin and Al Hanes of Berlin, Georgia; Patrick and Angela Wommack of Dunwoody, Georgia; Kathleen Bryant of Madison, Georgia; Grandchildren Hope Smith, Madison and Michala Bryant, Anna Beth Wommack, Thomas Wommack, and Kristopher Scott. As well as his sisters, Mary Ann Brasington of Pavo, Georgia, Betty Sue Turner of Rincon, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations to be made to FUMC of Madison Building fund or to Agape Hospice Care of Georgia.
