Robert J. Busby, age 97, of Americus, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024. A ceremony to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 13, at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Sam Harper, Rev. Keith Parks, Rev. Mike Truitt and Rev. Rusty Mauldin will participate in the service. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, February 12, from 5-7 p.m. at Aldridge Funeral & Cremation Services.

Robert Jack Busby was born on September 27, 1926, in Newton County, Mississippi son of the late Edgar Ross Busby and the late Mary Susan Johnson Busby. Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his military service, he pursued higher education at South Georgia Technical School. He later returned and dedicated 30 years of his career as a Diesel Mechanic Instructor at South Georgia Tech, sharing his expertise with others. He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church for many years. Jack enjoyed mission work, going on 17 domestic trips as well as 17 international mission trips in Central and South America. In his free time, Jack enjoyed the great outdoors, indulging in his passions for hunting and fishing as well as searching for arrowheads. His enthusiasm for nature was unparalleled. He also served as a leader for Boy Scout Master Troop 26. Jack was a beloved husband, father, devoted Christian, and outdoorsman.

Jack is survived by his devoted spouse of 69 years, Anna Busby, and his loving sons, Rob Busby and Matt Busby. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Ross Busby, his mother, Susan Johnson Busby, his sister, Azell Justice, and his brothers Elvin Busby, Edgar Busby, and Herman Busby.
