Nancy Rebecca Fletcher Murphy, 97, of Norman Park passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Pastors Andy Cashwell and Mike Litchard officiating. The family greeted friends following the service.
Born June 3, 1922, in Tifton, GA, Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Fletcher and Leila Cates Fletcher. Mrs. Murphy was a retired bookkeeper at Riverside Manufacturing and was also a retired clerk for the Colquitt County Government. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her family, quilting, crocheting, and fishing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Murphy; a son, Danny Wilkes; son, Jerry Murphy; grandson, Josh Murphy; great-granddaughter, Savannah Newton; and ten brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Newton (husband Franklin) of Norman Park; sons, Jerry Wilkes (wife Judy) of Norman Park and Bobby Wilkes (wife Brenda) of Sylvester; son Marvin Murphy (wife Connie) of Nashville; daughter, Wanda Carter of Adel; and son, Ronnie Murphy of Adel.
Grandchildren include Louie Newton (wife Cindy), Jeff Newton (wife Michele), Jennifer Kimble, Greg Wilkes (wife Terri), Lisa Griffin (husband Brad), Glen Wilkes (special friend Donna), Kevin Wilkes (special friend Amanda), Kile Wilkes, Adam Murphy (wife Jenna), Susan Exum (husband Keith), and Britt Carter, along with a host of wonderful great-grandchildren.
