Marvin Dwight Clayton
MOULTRIE, GA.- Marvin Dwight Clayton, 92, of Moultrie, died Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Legacy Village at Park Regency.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Woods and the Rev. Matt Peek officiating. Interment will be in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Richard Bass, Jeffrey Durrence, Gary Broom, Brian Robinson, Glen Clark, Doug Howell and Dr. Timothy Fagan.
Born July 22, 1927, in Norman Park, GA, Mr. Clayton was the son of the late John Elmer Clayton and late Gaitha Gertrude Creamer Clayton. He was recently preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Cook Clayton. Mr. Marvin was the youngest of twelve siblings, all of whom are deceased. He was a United States Veteran who served in the Navy on the USS Cabot CVL-28. Mr. Marvin was a construction worker with Grinnell Corporation and retired after 28 years of service. He was a deacon and previous Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Moultrie, and he also served as a Gideon, 32nd Degree Mason, and a Shriner.
Survivors include stepdaughter, Linda Joan Ervin and husband Roger of Eatonton GA; grandsons, John Robert Kitchens of Cumming GA and Brian Ervin of Memphis, Tennessee.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
