Martha Elizabeth
Martha Elizabeth "Beth" Wells Hay, 88, died at home in Winter Haven, Florida on November 11, 2019.
A family graveside memorial will be in Doerun, Ga. with Pastor Skip Wells presiding.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Turner Hay; her parents George and Ethel Wells of Doerun, Ga. and 7 brothers and sisters. Beth was born and raised in Doerun, Georgia and graduated from Andrew College with a teaching degree. She taught in Colquitt County where she met Bill Hay. They married in 1951. Beth lived most of her married life in Ft. Lauderdale and Winter Haven Florida. She was a homemaker and interior designer. She had great vision, creativity and drive. She was active with family events, Melrose Park Methodist Church, Garden Club, UDC, and Broward General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a sharp bridge player, reader, constant gardener, seamstress and avid golfer. She was a fan of Fox News, the Golf Channel and old sitcoms. She loved planning and hosting family gatherings and later especially enjoyed "Ice Cream Parties" with her great grandchildren.
Beth is survived by daughters Rosalind Hay of Lakeland, Fl. and Martha Hay of Ft. Lauderdale Fl.; grandson Austin Jones, his wife Courtney, great grandchildren Taylor and Turner of Lakeland, Fl. and her sister Shirley Wells Crosby of Moultrie, Ga.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to the charity of your choice.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
