John T. Beverly
John T. Beverly, 95, of Moultrie, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Tucker and the Rev. Thomas Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Rose of Sharon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Austin Thaggard, Dalton Thaggard, Gene Banks, Chad Rogers, John W. Beverly and Elliot Banks. Honorary casketbearers will be Tommy Proctor and Bub Whitfield.
Born July 18, 1924 in Ware County GA, he was the son of the late Jonah J. Beverly and Millie Irene Thomas Beverly. Mr. Beverly retired after 38 years of service from Swift and Company as a machinist and electrician. He was a Business Representative for 10 years for the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Virginia Miller Beverly; brothers, Zoro Beverly, J.B. Beverly and Stanley Beverly; sisters, Mary Allegood, Helen Martin and Evelene Hughes.
Survivors include his daughters, Alana Bolin and husband John of Moultrie, Pamela Phillips and husband Randy of Albany; grandchildren, Stacy Thaggard, Stephanie Thaggard and fiancée Chad Rogers, Rhoda Banks and husband Gene; great-grandchildren, Austin Thaggard and wife Christy, Dalton Thaggard and wife Peyton, Summer Ellen Thaggard, Elliot Banks, Henry Banks and Millie Banks; great-great-grandson, Holden Rex Thaggard; sister, Myrtice Moore of Brunswick; special friend, Paige Thaggard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, 231 Sam Sells Road, Doerun, Ga. 31744.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
