James Dallas
MOULTRIE - James Dallas "J.D." Truett, Jr., 83, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Michael Tomlinson, Steven Smith, Billy Hobgood, Derrick Truett, Dougie Singletary and Jimmy Gay. Ricky Hypes and Junior Hobgood will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Born January 10, 1936 in Quitman, he was the son of the late James Dallas Truett Sr. and Ophelia Willis Truett. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired Maintenance Technician with Procter and Gamble. He attended Christian Crusade Church. "J.D." enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. His children remember him as a loving and caring father.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Lewis Truett; one son, James Rodney Truett; one brother, Ray Truett; one sister, Virginia Singletary.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Adams and husband David of Moultrie; one son, Jamie Lee Truett and wife Melissa of Middleburg, Fl.; one brother, Billy Truett and wife Marilyn of Moultrie; four sisters, Peggy Toney and husband Danny of Jacksonville, Fl., Annie Grace Singletary of Brunswick, Carolyn Hobgood and Linda Hobgood, both of Moultrie; son-in-law, Lavon Palmer of Moultrie; five grandchildren, Chad Langston, Kayce Langston, Bobby Wayne Truett and two other grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Long and Kiarra Terry.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cindy, Jamie and other family members. I grew up with Jamie and Mr JD and Mrs Betty was a second dad and mom to me. JD, as Mrs Betty will be dearly missed.
