Camilla, Georgia - Doris Bryant Ragan went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hartsfield. The Rev. Stanley Norman will officiate. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

She was born at Rose Hill, Ga., on Feb. 27, 1934, to Lee Jackson and Ethel Bryant. She was a lifelong resident of the Bay community living her later years in Camilla, Ga., and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In her earlier years, Doris worked as a seamstress at Riverside in Moultrie. She married her sweetheart, John Howard Ragan in 1954, who joined his heavenly father in 1994. They immediately began a family and spent many years working together farming and as owners/operators of Ragan's Grocery in the Bay community. She enjoyed working, crafting, and cooking.

She is survived by her four daughters, Karen Ragan DeBerry, Marsha Powell (Clayton), Donna Cohen (Ron) and Melissa Ragan Norman; two sisters, Eunice Sellers and Susie Anglin; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving companion of many years, James Tabor.
