Daniel G. Hall Obituary

Daniel Garnel Hall age 84, of Griffin, Georgia, while being surrounded, cherished and loved by his family, went on to heaven to be with his Lord on April 13th, 2024. Dan Hall was born on a farm in Colquitt County GA, on July 3rd, 1939, to his proud parents James Lemuel and Willie Katherine Harrison Hall. His family consisted of 11 children in total. At 18 years old, he left the farm and attended college at Norman College where he graduated with his nursing degree three years later. Following college, he proceeded to join the United States Army where he continued his training to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist which led to him practicing anesthesia for 47 years. If you were ever his patient, he asked you if you knew the Lord, and he would always ask if he could pray for you before he put you to sleep. He got tickled when those who said they were not a Christian but yes, please pray for me anyway! Maybe they thought the Lord would help him not only put them to sleep but make sure he woke them back up! No one ever denied the opportunity to be prayed for by him. If anyone chose the right career for his gifts, it was him. Once joining the Army, he completed his training as a CRNA in Aurora, CO, at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center where he also met the love of his life, our mom, Lois, whom he was married to for 56 ½ years; he would tell you asking Lois to marry him on their first date was the best decision he ever made in his life. They were married August 27, 1966, in Albia, IA; in spite of his lack of organization skills, but thankful for the friendship of the judge and Lois' father the wedding would go on. The courthouse had to be opened to get the marriage license an hour prior to the wedding. After returning from their wedding, he completed his training and was sent to Vietnam where he served in the war, Captain Daniel G. Hall, Vietnam War, 1968-1969. When he returned to the US from the war, he continued his military service at Martin Army Community Hospital in Ft Benning, GA. He served as Captain Daniel G. Hall, 1964-1970, in the United States Army. He had already started a family which continued to grow to the Hall party of 5 which included his three daughters. Throughout his life, he lived with a determination to love. He loved what he did daily, he loved life, people, and the Lord; but I am not sure if he didn't love his daily multiple cups of coffee just as much! If you came by his home, you were greeted with a smile and always offered a "Fresh cup of coffee!" He worked without tiring. If he was needed, he grabbed his cup of coffee and out the door he went. He introduced his family to adventures through traveling across the U.S, visiting family regularly, hunting, fishing, and continuing to learn daily about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We were a party of 5 but with our family, we were a party of over 100. We grew up knowing family was always the most important. Combine his love of people, his love to care for others, his selfless devotion of his time to the needs of others, and his career, it was the perfect collision of talents and gifts, it is his legacy. Never did he "go to work" he went to do his passion each day he walked out of his door. His love for his family, people, patients, were a direct reflection of his love from his heart which he devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you knew him or met him, it did not take you long to figure out the source of his loving kindness. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mt Gilead Baptist Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church during his 44 years in Griffin, GA. Daniel Hall, "D.G," "Mr Dan""Uncle Dan,""Uncle Mack,""D-Grand""Granddaddy," "Repop,""Cardie," no matter what name you called him, he was always the same. He might make you laugh, calm you down, fuel your passion, challenge your beliefs, no matter what he did or the name you called him by, he was always the same. Genuinely greeting everyone as if he had known them his entire life, with an intent, invested interest in that person's family, life, and anything of concern. You were always welcome as if nothing else mattered at that moment but you. His caring, loving, character of a personality was useful throughout his lifelong passion, caring for others. Be careful, he could turn a joke on you with his great wit before you knew it. He loved a good opportunity to make others laugh and with his half smile, you could see the pure joy he got from getting one over on you. Survivors include daughters: Victoria Bowlin (Larry), Kimberli Carpenter (Jay), Natasha Bishop; grandchildren, Thomas Bowlin (Ellen), Danielle Bowlin, Kathleen Carpenter, Morgan Carpenter, Troy Carpenter, Kayla Tate (Myles), great grandchildren, Emilia Marie Bowlin, James Rich Bowlin; sisters Sybil Eldridge, Elizabeth Ethridge, June Wallace Morris (James); brother, James Lemuel Hall Jr (Linda) many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, James Lemuel and Willie Katherine Harrison Hall, Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife and the mother of their three daughters, Lois Maxine Thomas Hall; and his brothers, baby brother, Bill Hall, Wallace Hall, Douglas Hall, Jack Hall, and Lavon Hall.
