The family received friends on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.

Bama was born in Perry, Florida on September 14, 1932. As a teenager, she worked in the family diner where she met a young farmer, Joel Ansel Norman, Jr., (J.A.) who later became her husband of 70 years. After marrying, she moved to Georgia and became an integral part of the success of the family farm.

She worked side by side in all aspects of the farm, including stringing tobacco, planting the crops and cooking many meals to keep everyone energized to get the job done. She was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was involved in many activities there including the choir, Homecoming Committee, photography and documenting the history of the Church.

As an adult, Bama returned to school getting her B.A. degree in Art at Valdosta State. She then returned to teaching art in the Brooks and Colquitt County School systems for many years. In her personal life, she enjoyed taking a variety of art classes, loved playing volleyball in the YMCA volleyball league, and tending to her many flowers. Her greatest passion was her family where she flourished being a wife, mother and grandmother. At the center of her life was her faith in God, spending many hours in prayer and reading the Bible. Naturally talented, she easily played the piano by ear. On a trip to Tuscany, she was able to perform and entertain the locals with a New York opera singer.

Bama lived a very full life and all who knew her will miss her. As one friend said of her, "To know her was to love her".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Ansel Norman, Jr.; brothers, James "Buddy" Faulkner, Alfred Hal Faulkner, Willard Faulkner, and Donald Faulkner; and sisters, Kathleen Faulkner Brumley, Olive Jackson, and Norma Faulkner Eberhart.

Mrs. Norman is survived by her children, Joel Ansel Norman, III and wife Diana of Oakdale, California, Michael Walter Norman and wife Gayle of Moultrie, and Deborah Norman Matejcek of Moultrie; grandchildren, Connor Norman, Riley Norman, and Daniel Bastos; and her great grandchild, Ella Clair Bastos.
