Arthur Smith, 84, of Doerun, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 1, 2024, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Kimball Methodist Church Cemetery in Anderson City. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Monday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Casketbearers will be Donnie Wingate, Eric Causey, Andy Causey, Johnny Holsey, Michael Barnes and David Carter. Honorary casketbearers will be Elton Willilams, Phillip Williams, Greg Williams, Jeff Smith, Dave Smith and members of the Moultrie Fire Department.

Born April 19, 1940, in Telfair County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Bruce Smith and Fannie Lee Floyd Smith. Mr. Smith served the public honorably for 25 years in his role as a Firefighter for the Moultrie Fire Department before retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He loved to fish and spend time working on different projects.

Mr. Smith was a jack-of-all-trades but excelled as an engine builder. He had many hobbies and interests, but his greatest love was always his family. Mr. Smith was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Aubrey Smith, Elmer Smith, and Joe Smith; sisters, Virgie Herndon and Barbara Morey.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Erma L. Smith; daughter, Debra Cloud; son, Andy Smith and wife Trish; grandchildren, Justin Smith and wife Ansley, Adrian Cloud and wife Heather; great-grandchildren, Olivia Smith, Ramsey Smith, Kody Cloud, and Kylee Cloud; sister, Thelma Rhodes; and several other extended family members and friends.
