MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Virginia Christine Hartley Thomas Baker, 98, of Moultrie, Ga., died Friday, January 20, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Grantham and Rev. Joe Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Born October 22,1918 in Hartsfield, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Ira Hartley and Bessie Mae Smith Hartley. Mrs. Baker was a member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie for 58 years and she worked as an executive assistant for 45 years and retired from Riverside Manufacturing Company in Moultrie.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of 20 years Charles Shirah Thomas; her second husband of 40 years Laurence Hensley Baker; sister Edna Shaw; niece Barbara DeNeve and husband Bud; and nephew Jimmy Shaw.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna T. Robison and husband Dennard, Diane T. Webb, all of Moultrie, and Sharon T. Chavers and husband Randy of Sorrento, Fla.; stepchildren Linda B. Rutherford and husband Scott of Knoxville, Tenn., Larry C. Baker and wife Elizabeth of Cockeysville, Md., and Judy B. Smith of Roswell, Ga.; grandchildren Wes Robison and wife Angie, Holly R. Corona and husband David, all of Moultrie, Ga., Charla M. Chavers and Christi C. Stormant and husband Ryan, all of Sorrento, Fla., Matthew T. Webb and wife Rachael of Afton, Okla., Susan Rutherford of Atlanta, Ga., Alan Rutherford and wife Sue of Portland, Ore., Laura Crisp of Knoxville, Tenn., Carrie Neigel and husband Scott of Branchberg, N.J., Allison Baker of Philadelphia, Pa., and Nicholas Baker of Cockeysville, Md.; greatgrandchildren Sophia Corona of Moultrie, Ga., Riley and Abby Webb of Afton, Okla., Ethan Crisp of Knoxville, Tenn., Nate and Henry Neigel of Branchberg, N.J.
The family will greet friends after the service.
