MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Laura Mae Stevens Dominy Sutton, 94, of Moultrie, GA., formerly of Danville, GA. and Dudley, GA., died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, GA.
Graveside rites will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Danville, GA., with Mr. Durwood Dominy and Mr. James Dominy officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM-11:00AM Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Casketbearers will be Charles Hill, Larry Hill, David Whitaker, Jimmy Davidson, Millard Smith and Richard Smith.
Born July 22, 1923 in Dublin, GA., she was the daughter of the late Matthew Hade Stevens and Laura Jane Holliday Stevens. Mrs. Sutton retired from United States Postal Service as a post master. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as a pianist, organist and a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Sutton was very active in visiting nursing homes, V.A. Hospitals and playing the piano for the patients. She was a caregiver for many years to both of her husbands and her mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Broughton Hardy Dominy and Dessie Sutton; son, Robert Coleman Dominy; brother, M.H. Stevens.
Survivors include two sons, James Hade Dominy and Tanya of Richmond, IN., Durwood Dominy and Norma of Moultrie, GA.; two step-children, Raymond Sutton and Sheila of Dudley, GA, Trabue Sutton Brooks of Dublin, GA; seven grandchildren, Kimberly McClelland, Cynthia Adams, Tracie Yarbrough, Laura Durrence, Melise Bain, Jennifer Dominy and Chris Dominy; five-step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
