MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Mr. Freddie James "Hammie" Greene, 68, entered into rest on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Bethlehem Schley Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Schley Baptist Church Cemetery with the repast to conclude at Bethlehem Schley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Andres Greene, Reginald Greene, Xavier Jordan, Ulyssee Turner, Jr., Najji Greene and Latrikeus Turner will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be William Byrant High Class of 1966.
Freddie was baptized at an early age by Reverend E.H. Hopkins at Mother Easter Baptist Church.
Freddie retired from the State of Georgia Department of Corrections in 2010. He started his law enforcement career under the tenure of Colquitt Country Sheriff D.H. Alderman reaching the level of county investigator.
He was a member of the Masons and the Peace Officer Association of Georgia. He enjoyed cooking, carpentry and baking. He also loved spending time with family.
He was a 1966 graduate of William Bryant High School; and later furthered his education and took advance courses at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leila Greene; brother, Donald Greene; and grandmother, Inez Greene.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Christine Turner Greene of Moultrie, Georgia; two sons, Christopher Jackson, Sr. (Shonita) of Hampton, Georgia, and Marcus Turner (Shameka) of Moultrie, Georgia; four daughters, Valerie Lewis (Anthony S.) of Norman Park, Georgia, Rhonda Greene of Moultrie, Georgia, Captain Yasmon Renee Greene of San Antonio, Texas, and Fredrica Greene-Martin (Michael) of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Gary Greene (Claudia) of Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Joanne Jordan of Moultrie, Georgia; one aunt, Raye Jean Knighton; a host of grandchildren; seven special friends, Cynthia Wright, Reginald Greene and Janice Black, all of Moultrie, Georgia, Horace Jolly of Norman Park, Georgia, Charlie Crapps of Sylvester, Georgia, Xylin Sibley and Valerie Alderman, both of Moultrie, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Luke Strong And Son Mortuary, Ltd.
