Daniel's Story

Mr. Daniel McKinney, Sr., 80 of Sparks, Georgia passed away April 16, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. He was born on April 20, 1936 in Cook County, Georgia to the late John Sineath McKinney and Viola Rhodes McKinney. He lived in Houston, Texas for 48 years before moving back to Cook County in 2005. He was retired from McKinney Services and was a Baptist.
Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Louise Roberts McKinney of Sparks; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Dan McKinney Jr. and Penny of Houston, Duane McKinney of Houston, and David Dunlap and Brinda of Ledbetter, TX; a daughter, Donna Jean McKinney of Sparks; five grandchildren: Dan McKinney III and Bridgett of Houston, Chris McKinney and Sarah of Pearland, TX, Stephanie McKinney of Sugarland, TX, Sarah Marie Dunlap and Rachel Leigh Dunlap, both of Austin, TX; and three great-grandchildren: Ethan Miller McKinney and Liam Alexander McKinney, both of Houston, and Charlotte McKinney of Pearland; special nephews: Larry McKinney and his wife Angie of Valdosta, GA, and Eugene McKinney and his wife Cynthia of Meigs, GA. Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Ralph, Byron, H.S., Leon, Arlie and Williard McKinney; and four sisters: Marie Dunlap, Margie Gershen, Marcelle Wise and Thelma Moore.
A memorial service for Mr. McKinney will be held Thursday April 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, GA 31620) with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. A private interment will occur later at McMillan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
