DOERUN, Ga. -- William Max Howell, 89, of Doerun, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pelham, Ga.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Clayton, Larry Howard, Joey Thompson, Ricky Thompson, Steve Ritter and Dean Willis.
Honorary casketbearers will be Members of Albany America Legion Post 30.
Born March 12, 1928 in Ashburn, Ga., Mr. Howell was the son of the late James Philmore Howell and Delda Gertrude Thompson Howell. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Howell volunteered at the Veterans Association driving the bus taking veterans to the Dublin, Ga., Veterans Association. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Mr. Howell retired as a maintenance mechanic at M&M Mars.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Barry Howell and Steve Howell; sisters, Evelyn Clayton, Faye Delk, Doris Camp, Jeanette Thomas and Iva Lee Knight; brothers, Marvin Howell and Winton Howell.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Greer Morey Howell of Doerun, Ga.; two sisters, Verlin Giddens of Lakeland, Fla., and Carol Thompson of Doerun, Ga.; grandson, Patrick Howell of Lakeland, Fla.; three stepsons, Donald Morey of Hahira, Ga., Roger Morey of Leesburg, Ga. and Mark Morey of Macon, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pelham, GA.
