MOULTRIE, GA. -- Virginia Elizabeth Taylor Gay, 81, of Moultrie, Ga., died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at The Golden Apple.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30AM Tuesday November 21, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Born on June 22, 1936 in Moultrie, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Taylor Sr. and late Arminta Adeline Green Taylor. Mrs. Gay retired as an instructional aid at Green Oaks Center, a member of Autreyville Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Moultrie.
Casketbearers will be Jody Dampier, Eddie Sutton, Kenny Bennett, Wayland Gay, Bill Barrineau and Nicolas Masonoff.
Honorary casketbearers will be Ralph Gandy, Steve Perkins and Mike Gay.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Gay; sons, Robert Lamar Carter and Michael Grant Gay; brother, Benjamin Franklin Taylor Jr.
Survivors include her daughter Marsha Ann Carter McVay and Jody Dampier of Moultrie, step son, Wayland Gay and wife Joyce of Moultrie, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Evelyn Thompson and husband Chris, Michael Jonathan Gay, Taylor Elizabeth Gay and Nicolas Masonoff; daughter in law Rhonda Gay of Moultrie; two step grandchildren Jeffery Shane Gay and Lorie Dyane Gay; four greatgrandchildren Hallie Rae Thompson, Jayden Lewis Slaughter, John Thomas Gay and Zachary Gay; two step great grandchildren Garrison Lewis Gay and Kayden Lewis Gay
The family will receive friends from 10:30AM to 11:30AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
