Mrs. Velma Duren Buckholts, 91, of Sparks, Georgia passed away on November 17, 2017 at Cypress Pond Senior Care in Tifton. She was born on October 29, 1926 in Cook County to her late parents Mitchell Benjamin Duren and Eliza Rebecca Luke Duren. She lived in Cook County all of her life where she was the retired co-owner of Cook County Concrete and also Buckholts Construction. Mrs. Buckholts was a member of Massee Baptist Church and Hospital Auxiliary Pink Ladies.
Mrs. Buckholts is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, W.H. "Junior" Buckholts, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Panama City, FL; four daughters and two sons-in-law: Dian Causey of Moultrie, GA, Tricia and Jimmy Padgett of Sparks, Linda Kaye and Dwight Purvis of Sparks, and Debra Buckholts of Sparks; seven grandchildren: Mitchell Padgett of Sparks, Matthew Padgett of Alabaster, AL, Bill Buckholts of Panama City, Brad Buckholts of Key West, FL, Benjy and Shan Scarbor of Sparks, Kimberley Causey of Moultrie, Amy Williams-Kinsley and her husband Chris Kinsley of Tallahassee, FL; seven great-grandchidren: Madison Williams of Tallahassee, Andrew Buckholts of Mississippi, Jessica Padgett of Alabaster, Cameron Dickens and Cadden Dickens, both of Sparks, Alex Kinsley and Noelle Kinsley, both of Tallahassee; and her sister, Merle Griffin of Adel. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry "W.H." Buckholts, Sr.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 19, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel. The funeral service will take place Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Massee Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Stinson and Rev. Stanley Hendricks officiating.
