MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Van Harold Murphy, Jr., 73, of Moultrie, Ga., died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Murphy Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Mike Avery, Cliff Murphy, Christopher Corbitt, Rick Murphy, Sean Corbitt, Heath Williams, Austin Avery and Brandon Parks.
Born December 3, 1943 in Moultrie, Ga., he was the son of Emily Christine Carlton Newton of Moultrie, Ga. and the late Van Harold Murphy, Sr. He was a car salesman with Gregg Issacs and Price Point Car Sales and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Murphy enjoyed fishing, riding the tractor and working his cattle. He loved to tell stories and had a great sense of humor. His family remembers how he could run like the wind.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hope Richardson; great-granddaughter, Isabell Grace Hodnett; sister, Jacqueline Murphy; brother, Wayne Murphy.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Jacqueline Woods Murphy of Moultrie, Ga.; two sons, Vance Dwayne Murphy and wife Dawn, Brian Keith Murphy and wife Donna all of Moultrie, Ga.; daughter, Paula Murphy Norris and husband Doug of Panama City Beach, Fla.; step-daughter, Chandra Partain of Moultrie, Ga.; step-son, Jere Richardson of Moultrie, Ga.; eleven grandchildren, Justin Murphy, Shea Murphy, Nicole Murphy Dennis, Jade Murphy Merritt, Dalton Murphy, Madison Penney, Hunter Murphy, Kannan Partain, Elijah Partain, Isaiah Partain and Siles Partain; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Vinson, Jemma Murphy and Kale Dennis; two sisters, Linda Whitley of The Villages, Fla. and Kay Williams of Atmore, AL.; brother, Carl Murphy of Moultrie, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM- 8:00PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
