MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Thomas Edward "Ed" Crosby Sr., 84 of Moultrie, GA., died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside rites, with military honors, will be 2:00PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Zion Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Dion Brown officiating.
Born April 20, 1933 in Moultrie, Ga., he was the son of the late Henry Edward Crosby and Estelle Lamb Crosby. Mr. Crosby was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korea War 1951. He was injured once in combat, wounded two times and received 2 Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantry Badge and many other ribbons. He also served in Northern Japan in 1952. He served as field first sergeant 1953 in a basic training unit at Camp Gordon in Augusta, Ga. Mr. Crosby retired from Lowe's Home Improvement Center as a general manager in the Moultrie and Thomasville stores. Mr. Crosby was a past member of Moultrie Rotary Club, Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, a Bank Director, YMCA, Development Authority and the Moultrie Jaycees. Mr. Crosby was a member of the American Legion Post #324 of Moultrie, VFW Post 4830 of Moultrie, Disabled American Veterans Life Member and The Military Order of the Purple Heart Life Member.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Edward Crosby; grandchild, Matthew Crosby; brothers, Donnie Ray Crosby, Richard Crosby, Henry Eugene Crosby and Billy Kenneth Crosby; sister, Ellen Crosby Cooper.
Survivors include his wife and the love of his life, Joyce Howell Crosby of Moultrie, Ga., married for 63 years and together they raised 4 sons; sons, Michael Brent Crosby and wife Linda of Moultrie, Ga., Keith Eugene Crosby and husband Scott of Atlanta, Ga., Thomas Edward Crosby Jr. and wife Dana of Moultrie, Ga.; grandchildren, Jesse Crosby, Shannon Crosby, Brittany Crosby, Joshua Crosby and Lucy, Christy Crosby, Mack Crosby; great-grandchild, Jillian Crosby; brothers, Tony Crosby and Craig Crosby both of Moultrie, Ga.; sisters, Edna Crosby Autrey, Carolyn Crosby Sanders and Linda Crosby Strange, all of Montgomery, Ala.
