MOULTRIE, GA. -- Sara Frances Griffin Thompson, 74, of Moultrie, Ga. died Saturday, November 11, 2017.
Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Weeks Chapel with the Rev. Al Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Weeks Chapel Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Chip Thompson, Sean Thompson, Christopher Russo, Rayne Barnes, Marty Baker, William Hughes, Charles Tim and John Griffin. Honorary casketbearers will be Stetson Teal and Frankie Russo.
Born July 10, 1943 in Moultrie, Ga., she was the daughter of the late John Lewis Griffin and Annie Irene Weeks Griffin. Mrs. Thompson was a jailer at the Colquitt County Sheriff Department and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Frances Teal; step-sisters, Mary L. Patterson and Myrtle Lee Moye; step-brother, Gene Wright.
Survivors include three children, Cecilia Russo of TyTy, Ga., Chip Thompson of Pavo, Ga. and Sean Thompson of Kingsland, Ga.; sixteen grandchildren, Chris Russo, Brandon Russo, Daphne Hembree, Hannah Hannah, Alexis Russo, Stetson Teal, Rayne Barnes, Kaina Barnes, Allison Nesmith, Asa Nesmith, Americas Thompson, Shayne Thompson, Lee Pittman, Gavin Thompson, Koen Hilliard, Kami Hilliard and Keni Hilliard; several great-grandchildren; brother, John L. Griffin Jr. of Maryland; step-sister, Annie Mae Hall of Moultrie, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
