MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Sandra James Stokes Edwards, 82, of Moultrie, Ga., died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Friday, December 22, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. A.J. Mealor and Rev. Hugh Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robert Duggan, Henry Klar, Dan Jeter, Billy Fallin, Ronnie Reagan and John Carlton.
Born May 23, 1935 in Pell City, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James Hubert Stokes and Sarah Fowler Stokes. Mrs. Edwards grew up in Pell City, Alabama, and after graduating from Pell City High School she received her degree from Huntingdon College. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie, a member of the Moultrie Service League and the Morning Glory Garden Club. Her family remembers how she enjoyed playing Bridge, spending time with her grandchildren and participating in their activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Warren William Edwards; sister Dr. Charlotte Stokes.
Survivors include a son, Mark William Edwards II and Julie of Birmingham, Ala.; daughters, Sarah James Edwards of Atlanta, Ga., Lynn Edwards Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Catherine Edwards Barber and Paul, Mark William Edwards III, Emily Hurst Edwards, Lauren Fowler Edwards, Gunter Ratliff Johnson and Evans Fowler Johnson; special friend and caregiver, Carol Mathis of Sale City, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM Friday at the First Presbyterian Church of Moultrie.
