MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Samuel Lamar "Sam" Spurlock, 69, of Moultrie, Ga., died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11:00AM Friday, August 11, 2017 at Funston Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Shiver officiating.
Born June 22, 1948 in Lakeland, Fla., he was the son of the late Samuel Baker Spurlock and Winona Estelle Wells Spurlock. Mr. Spurlock was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran and serving for 17 1/2 years and retired from McKellar Motors as a service manager. He was a member of Funston Baptist Church and of the Disabled American Veterans. His family remembers how he loved to fish. Mr. Spurlock enjoyed people and whenever they spoke or spent time with him, they always left with a smile on their face.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kelvin David Spurlock; sister, Gloria Barnwell.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Purvis Spurlock of Moultrie, Ga.; three children, Ashley N. Spurlock and Vonda of Waxahachie, Tx., Heather Dawn Joiner and Russ of Moultrie, Ga., Cheyenne LaKrista Bowe and Brandon of Moultrie, Ga.; two step-children, Amanda L. Walker of Moultrie, Ga., Kelli L. Green of Leesburg, Ga.; ten grandchildren, Ashlynn Spurlock, Caleb Joiner, Marlene Moore, Justin Stokes, Austin Vance, Kori Peak, Kelsi Peak, Michael Green, Brandon Edwards and Aidan Walker; sister in law, Donna Spurlock of Moultrie, Ga.; brother in law, Kenneth Barnwell of Moultrie, Ga. and other family members.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service on Friday at Funston Baptist Church.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Homeless Veterans Association.
