MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Raymond Edward Bates, 74, of Moultrie, Ga., died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00PM Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in Funston Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Randy Weeks, Bob Pearce, Needam Carver, Billy Yarbrough, Jimmy Martin and Herbert Connell. Honorary casketbearers will be Todd Simmons, Chris Simmons, Greg Davis and Ricky Jackson.
Born October 5, 1943 in Moultrie, Ga., he was the son of the late Arthur Shelton "Buck" Bates and Bertha Cooper Bates. Mr. Bates retired from the Mobile Home Industry. His family remembers how he loved his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marla Anne Bates; sister, Blanche Burgner; brothers, Larry Bates, Ruis "Billy Ray" Bates, James A. "Boots" Bates.
Survivors include his wife LaRhue Goss Bates of Moultrie, Ga.; son, Randy Edward Bates and Christy of Moultrie, Ga.; grandchildren, Ry Bates, Brandie Crosby and Griffin Bates; sisters, Janice Key of Moultrie, Ga., and Lola Faye Goss and Jimmy of Moultrie, Ga.; and brother, Bennie Bates of Moultrie, Ga.
The family received friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
