MOULTRIE, Ga. - Phillip Hayward McRae, 75, of Moultrie died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. S.E. Newberry and Rev. Chuck Scarborough officiating. Interment will be held in Westview Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Blake Strickland, Joey McRae, Danny Welch, Ken Perry, Ambry McDowell and Chad Walden.
Honorary casketbearers will be Gene Sellers, Alex Shivers and Corporal Matthew Long.
Mr. McRae was born September 12, 1942 in Barwick, Georgia. He was the son of the late J.W. McRae and the late Alma Prescott McRae. He was the co-owner of Mac's Custom Cabinets and a member of Bay Freewill Baptist Church for thirty-five years where he served as a deacon. Mr. McRae was a loving husband, daddy, papa and friend. He called himself "an old goat roper from Pavo." He loved his Lord Jesus Christ and was dedicated to his church. He was the best Papa in the world.
Preceded in death by his parents, J.W. McRae and Alma Prescott McRae, and two brothers William Lee McRae and John Avery McRae.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years. Carol Allegood McRae; daughters Kim Tomlinson and husband Joey of Moultrie, Ga., Robin Croy and husband Stacey of Moultrie, Ga.; son Hayward Stacey McRae of Moultrie, Ga.; brother Joseph Lou Ray McRae and wife Janet of Coolidge; sister Clara McRae Musick of Moultrie; sisters-in-law Nita McRae of Thomasville, Ga., Mae McRae of Pavo, Ga., Linda Allegood Lasseter and husband Charles of Norman Park, GA, Sue Allegood Walker of Moultrie, Ga.; brothers-in-law Ronald Allegood, Jeff Allegood and Sue of St. Cloud, Florida; grandchildren Courtney Tomlinson and Brad Brown, Lacey Tomlinson and Ryan Walsh, Blake Strickland and Kristen Floyd, Mackenzie Wilson and Steven, Carley Tomlinson and Austin Kinard, Katelyn Croy, Lainey McRae, Corporal Matthew Long, Kelly Long; great-granddaughter Macey Gail Walsh, whom he cherished; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 6-8 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
