DOERUN, Ga. -- Nellie Gibson Williams, 75, entered into rest on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Nellie was born January 14, 1942 in Doerun, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Sara Gibson and the late Willie D. Gibson.
Sister Williams accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bailey Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Doerun, Georgia. Later, she was led by Christ to join her husband at Mitchell Grove Baptist Church in Worth County where she served diligently as a Deaconess. She was educated at William Bryant High School and graduated with the Class of 1960 in Moultrie, Georgia. She was also a lifetime member of the Fannie McIntyre Order of the Eastern Stars #136, Sale City Lodge.
On July 12, 1964, she married the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Deacon Randolph Williams, Jr. They were blessed with eight children in that unity. She was also the daughter-in-law of the late Randolph Williams, Sr. and the late Sallie Williams.
Sister Williams had an awesome career as "housewife" because she ensured that her husband and children were well taken care of daily.
She was preceded in death by her son, Victor H. Williams and daughter, Abigail Gibson; (2) brothers, Bobby Gibson and Willie Gibson; (2) sisters-n-law, Eddie Mae Rogers and Mildred Williams.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving husband, Mr. Randolph Williams, Jr.; (6) wonderful children, Beverly Peterson (Freddie of Moultrie, Georgia), Mary Fields (Johnny of Doerun, Georgia), Sheila Jackson (Curtis of Albany, Georgia), Randolph Williams, III (wife Trina of Doerun, Georgia), Dr. April Smith (husband Derrick of Leesburg, Georgia), Dana Williams (Tanya of Ft. Washington, Maryland), and 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; (2) brothers, Clarence Blakely (Doerun) and Grady Gibson (wife Bertha of Columbus, Georgia), one devoted sister, Leatha Gibson (Doerun, Georgia), (4) sisters-in-law, Mary Williams, and Minnie Williams (Atlanta, Georgia), Jeanette Williams (of Montgomery, Alabama), and Elmer Gibson (of Albany, Georgia). She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, many relatives and sorrowing friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Luke Strong And Son Mortuary Chapel, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
