Nellie's Story

MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Nellie Hilton Paulk, 83, of Moultrie died Monday, July 3, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Woods, Rev. Hugh Ward and Mr. Jimmy Jeter officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be David Cook, Blayton Duncan, Dwain Nix, Grady Pollard, Ronald Paulk and Zach Bryant. Honorary casketbearers will be the Lions Club of Moultrie.
Born February 25, 1934 in Thomaston, Ga. she was the daughter of the late M.L. Hilton and Inez Hilton Powell. She began her career at Colquitt Loan Company on May 16, 1955 as a cashier. She would bring young Linda Kay and place her on a pallet behind her and Mr. Jeter would come out to play with Linda. Mr. Jeter asked her to form the home office. Standard Discount Corporation was formed August 18, 1958 and she began her responsibilities as comptroller until her retirement on March 31, 2014. Mrs. Paulk was very active in the community and joined the Lions Club in September 1997, served as the finance committee chairman, membership committee, auditor, director, district convention committee and a member of First Baptist Church of Moultrie. She was very active and very much loved.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Kenneth Paulk.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Paulk of Moultrie, Ga., grandchildren Stacy Cook and husband Dean of Moultrie, Ga., Michael Duncan and wife Amber of Moultrie, Ga.; great grandchildren Stephanie Cook, David Cook, Blayton Duncan, Julia Duncan and Jayde Duncan all of Moultrie, Ga.; brother Julious Hilton of Gulfport, Ms.; sisters Hazel Nix of Meansville, Ga., Maxene Jones of Phoenix, Az., Ezell Knowler of Phoenix, Az., Marie Rogers of Elma, Wa., Connie Potts and husband Johnny of Montesano, Wa.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
