MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Mildred W. Rentz, 93, died on Saturday, August 26, 2017. She was a school teacher in Colquitt County for 30 years, and taught at Norman Park High School, Okapilco Elementary, and C.A. Gray. She was a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church for 67 years, and served in several church leadership positions. After retirement, she was also involved with the Colquitt County Retired Teachers Association, Magnolia Garden Club, and Keenagers of First Baptist Church.
The funeral will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Wayne Woods, with interment to follow at Oak Dale Baptist Church. Visitation will be held before the service from 9:30am-11:00am at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family wishes to express gratitude to the fine staff at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie.
Casketbearers will be Craig Boozer, Randy Boozer, Rob Tompkins, Wayne Tompkins, Blake Tabb, Lamar Whitfield and Donald Wingate. The Ladies Sunday School Class of Oak Dale Baptist Church will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Mrs. Rentz was the daughter of Ira and Orpha Whitfield of Banks County, Georgia. She moved to Colquitt County to attend Norman College, and later taught in Norman Park. She made her home in this county when she married Howard Earl Rentz of Norman Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Bruce, Wilton, and Bertrand Whitfield, and her son-in-law Bill Turner. She is survived by three children, John Rentz of Moultrie, David (Sulema) Rentz of Albertville, Alabama, and her daughter Earlene Rentz-Turner of Lancaster, Kentucky; a sister, Carolee Hulsey of Mt. Airy, Georgia; four granddaughters, Ashleigh Rentz, Sara (Blake) Tabb, Atziry Rentz, and Iris Rentz; two great-grandchildren, Tiger and Rosemary Tabb; and other family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia Manor and or the Scholarship Fund of Colquitt County Retired Teachers Association.
