MOULTRIE, GA. -- Melvin Henry King, 86, of Moultrie, GA, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Rose Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Harrell. Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Rob Millings, Reggie Crosby, Vernie Key, Russ Smith, Donnie Wilson, Stanley Bass, Neal Presley and Pete Carroll.
Born March 13, 1931 in Moultrie, GA, he was the son of the late Bernard Carson "B.C." King and Nomie Ola Hall King. He was a farmer for 60 years and a co-owner of King's Jewelry. Mr. King was a Mason, Shiner and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. He loved his family, his church family, enjoyed working on the farm and caring for his animals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Alice Juanita Wilson King; son, Jerry King; step-mother, Mildred Strickland King; daughter-in-law, Kay King; two brothers, Horace King and Lewis King; three sisters, Lillian Howell, Earline Curley and Joyce Bevins.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Melvin King and fiancee Diane of Leesburg, GA, Marvin King of Hartsfield, GA; two daughters, Vickie King Waldrop and Ricky, Sheila King Cash all of Hartsfield, GA; seven grandchildren, Mel King and Ashley, Karrie McKee and Scott, Holly Crosby Casteel and fiance Russ, Cleve Crosby and Gina, Jim Waldrop, Haley Cash Buck and Desirae Cash White and Hunter; twelve great-grandchildren, Collier King, Caden King, Karsen McKee, Jackson McKee, Colton McKee, Brandon McKee, Kyle Crosby, Katie Crosby, Preston Casteel, Zach Hodnett, Jonathan Hodnett and Benjamin Buck, III; three brothers, Raymond King and Mary of Albany, GA, Bernie King and Keisha of Hartsfield, GA, Ray Strickland of Berlin, GA; three sisters, Barbara Bowers of Moultrie, GA, Gail Hill and Dottie Baker and Jeff all of Ellenton, GA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM - 8:00PM Friday, March 31, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
