MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Mazie Hamlin Dillard, 91, of Moultrie, formerly of Milledgeville, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Mrs. Dillard was born October 26, 1926, in West Point, Mississippi, to Rodney Forest Hamlin and Lucy Carter Hamlin. She graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, and earned the first master's degree conferred by the College. In addition to teaching for several years, Mrs. Dillard served as office manager and optician for her husband's optometry practice. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Milledgeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stephen Horace Dillard, Sr., and son Stephen Dillard, Jr., both of Milledgeville, and two sisters, Mary Guinn Weathers of Carthage, Mississippi, and Bettie Paulk, of Dayton, TN.
Survivors include her son Peter Fielding Dillard, Sr., and wife Gail, of Moultrie; two grandsons, Pete Dillard, Jr., and wife Kim of Charlotte, NC, and John Stephen Dillard of Athens, GA; and three great-grandsons, Ethan, Finn, and Nathaniel Dillard, of Charlotte.
A Requiem Mass will be offered at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 25, at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 609 South Main Street, Moultrie. A private committal will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mark's, Moultrie, or First United Methodist in Milledgeville.
