DOERUN, Ga. -- Margie Ann Pitts High, 67, of Doerun, Ga., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Legacy Village at Park Regency.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Deloach officiating and assisted by the Rev. Julian Griner. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Church Road, Camilla, Ga.
Casketbearers will be Eric Hall, Randall Weeks, Craig Weeks, Larry Wood, Keith Walden and Terry Smith.
Born September 9, 1949 in Doerun, Ga., she was the baby girl in the family of eight children (four girls and four boys) and lived in the Doerun area her whole life. She graduated in 1967 from Doerun High School, attended Moultrie Tech and retired from Alltel Communications in Moultrie after 40 years of service. Mrs. High was a member of First Baptist Church of Doerun and spent many years as a choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Mrs. High was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl Pitts and Ruby Heffner Pitts; sister, Billie Jean Pitts and brother, Daniel "Danny" Calhoun Pitts.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Thomas Alton "Buddy" High of Doerun, Ga.; two daughters, Jennifer High Barfield and husband Ron of Fort Valley, Ga., Amanda High Weeks and husband Christopher of Hahira, GA; two grandsons, Blake Barfield and Carter Barfield; two granddaughters, Emerson Weeks and Lylah Kate Weeks; two sisters, Earline Hughey of Doerun, Ga., Rosella Spoon of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; three brothers, Donny Pitts and wife Christal, Kenneth Pitts and wife Jane and John Pitts and wife Paula, all of Moultrie, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, an aunt and a multitude of friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Legacy Village at Park Regency for their care of Margie these past eight months. They also wish to thank Colquitt Regional Hospice and their employee, Cynthia Gamble, and Margie's special friend and caregiver, Janice McDaniel.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00PM Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
