Louise's Story

MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Louise Cato Perkins Pope, age 97, passed peacefully on June 8, 2017 at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie, Ga. She was born May 6, 1920, in Worth County, Ga., to Dollie Pauline and James Green Cato. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Pope, infant son Cary Gene Perkins, three brothers, Earl, James Green and Walter George Cato, one sister, Mary Frank Dunlap and two nephews, Stephen Dunlap and Anthony Cato.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Laidlaw officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Elda Mims, three daughters, Lynda Perkins Stone, Karla Kaye Perkins Whitfield and Tommy, and Rhonda Perkins Eldridge and Doug. She is the beloved grandmother of Pamela Stone Valdez and Danny, Eric Stone, Amanda Eldridge, Allyson Eldridge and Zachary Eldridge and Justine. Also mourning her are her great-grandchildren, Dennis and Kathryn Pickett, Sarah and Rebecca Clair, and her nieces and nephews, Susan Gause, Patricia Smith, Paula Walsh, Trisha Weathersby, Lynn Wyman, Misti Cato, Charlotte Ann and Julian Cato, Charlotte Pfieffer and Clark Rowell, Jr. After she married, Louise lived in Miami, Fla, for several years until the outbreak of World War II when she returned to Georgia. She resided near Doerun until 1966 when she moved to Moultrie where she was employed by Warners, Rivco and Riverside until her retirement. A devout Christian, she was a member of Doerun Methodist Church and then Tyson Memorial Methodist in Moultrie. She has lived at Magnolia Manor for the last few years. Many will remember Louise as church volunteer, a very talented seamstress, an excellent cook, an avid quilter and dedicated reader. She provided a beautiful example and inspiration to everyone as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a true friend to all who knew her. Her legacy is love.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM - 2:00PM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
