Louise Fulgham Colson Louise Fulgham Colson, 87, of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 2:00pm with Rev. Harold Thomaston officiating. Mrs. Colson was born on March 22, 1931 to the late Austin Rudolph Fulgham & Bessie Ward in Thomas County, one mile from the Florida line between Thomasville and Monticello. She married Mr. Charles F. (Fred) Colson, who survives. She attended Bethel School which was a two room school house in Jefferson County, FL (still standing and on the National Historic Registry) from 1st through 4th grade and attended Fletcherville School in Thomasville for 5th and 6th grade and later Thomasville High and Jefferson County High School in Monticello, FL. She was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company, Roses 5 & 10 Cent Store, Hydrotane Gas Co., Watkins Motor Lines, and Southwestern State Hospital. She retired from Southwestern State Hospital after 25 years, 10 years of working as Personnel Manager. She organized the Sunbeam Class at Eastside Baptist Church in Thomasville and served as a Brownie Scout Leader. She taught children's Sunday School class at Morningside United Methodist Church and was a member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of Rose City Federal Credit Union, Briarcliff Garden Club, and was the President of American Business Women of Thomasville for one year. In her free time she enjoyed reading and gardening. Survivors include, her husband, Charles F. (Fred) Colson, children, Vicki S. Jackson of Cairo, GA, John C. (Jake) Starling (Dianne) of Thomasville, Cynthia S. (Cindy) Carter (Larry), of Thomasville, stepchildren, Geri L. Colson Cline (Peter) of Castle Pines, CO, Rev. Alan Colson (Greta) of Castle Rock, CO., John C. Colson (Cheryl) of Denver,CO, grandchildren, Valerie Player, Casey Lawrence, Stephanie Knisley (Bert), Neal Jackson, Jeremy Carter (Elisa), Jennifer Vinson (Kent), Lauren Malmo (Brian), Aaron Colson, Sofia Colson and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Nathan Fulgham & Clyde Fulgham, sister, Gerladine Peavy, stepfather, Shelton Clark, mother, Bessie Ward Clark and stepbrother, James Clark.
