MOULTRIE, GA.- Lewis Leonard Brown, Jr., 87, of Moultrie, Ga. died Monday, June 05, 2017 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.
Graveside rites will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Smith officiating.
Born September 13, 1929 in Owensboro, Ga, he was the son of the late Lewis Leonard Brown, Sr. and Florence Dorminy Brown. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a pharmacist and former co-owner of Medical Center Pharmacy in Moultrie. Mr. Brown was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church and served as a board member. He was one of the founding Directors of the American Banking Co. currently known as Ameris Banking Co., long-time member and past President of the Moultrie Kiwanis Club and a former YMCA director.
Mr. Brown was a founding director for Pineland School and worked with former sheriff, D.H. Alderman on the Drug Abuse Awareness Program. His family remembers how he was an avid woodworker and enjoy spending time at Lake Blackshear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Leonard "Lynn" Brown, III; granddaughter, Paige Devon Hogsed; sister, Frances Marie Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Williams Brown of Moultrie, Ga.; son, Charles Steven Brown and Debbie of Americus, Ga.; three granddaughters, Amy Jean Brown, Tammi Childs and James, Tanzy Ann Brown; two great-granddaughters, Madilynn Childs and Willow Childs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM- 8:00PM Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
