MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Lamar Melvin "Buddy" Jarrell, 70, of Moultrie, Ga., died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Wiard officiating. Graveside rites will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Roland Bamburg officiating.
Casketbearers will be Ricky Murphy, Mitch Murphy, Jerry Smith Jr., Joe Smith, Jimmy Shelton, Thomas Hurst, Frankie Tyson and Randy Hart.
Born July 12, 1947 in Moultrie, Ga., he was the son of the Gladys Hart Jarrell of Moultrie, Ga., and the late Melvin Marvin Jarrell. Buddy was a member of New Jerusalem Freewill Baptist Church. His family remembers how he was the ultimate sheriff and showed people what love was. Buddy was God's special child.
Survivors include his mother, Gladys Hart Jarrell of Moultrie, Ga.; sisters, Phyllis Brown of Doerun, Ga., Linda Gale Whited and Jim of Kokomo, Ind., Melissa Hurst and Thomas of Doerun, Ga.; stepmother, Janice Boyd Jarrell of Moultrie, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Diane Herndon and Lewis of Moultrie, Ga., Jerry Smith Jr. and Michele of Doerun, Ga., Ricky Murphy and Marnie of Cumming, Ga., Mitch Murphy of Oakwood, Ga., and Elaine Hurst Powell and Tyler of Omega, Ga.; great-nieces and -nephews, Chet Murphy of Cumming, Ga., Devin Smith, Mallory Herndon, both of Moultrie, Ga., J.W. Smith of Leesburg, Ga., Melvin Smith of Moultrie, Ga., and Christian Murphy of Cumming, Ga.; special friends, Waverly Thurman of Thomasville, Ga., Carla Shelton Thompson of Moultrie, Ga.; special pal, Joe Smith of Leesburg, Ga. and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
