SYLVESTER, Ga. -- Kenneth Wayne Brown, 87, of Sylvester, Ga., died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Willison Hospice House in Albany, Ga.
Funeral service, with military honors, will be held 2:00PM Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Ga., with the Rev. Ken Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Proudly serving as pallbearers will be grandson Wesley Brown, nephews Lee Brown and Phil Brown, stepson Tracy Mathews, sons-in-law Mike Mercer, Michael Bortmas and Eddie Brown.
Mr. Brown was born on April 19, 1930 in Worth County to the late Haywood Lee and Naomi Jutson Lunsford Brown. He attended school in Sylvester and later went into the United States Navy where he served honorably. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and created a bus ministry that led many young people to the Lord.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by younger brothers, Hal Brown and Bobby Brown, and sister, Betsy Meredith.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Barbara (Bobbie) Brown of Sylvester, Ga.; son, Ken Brown of Moultrie Ga.; daughters and their husbands, Wana and Eddie Brown of Leesburg, Ga., and Amy and Mike Mercer of Tallahassee, Fla.; stepsons, John Mathews Jr., Talladega Ala., Tracy and Tracy Mathews, Montgomery, Texas; stepdaughters, Susan Mathews, Talladega, Ala., Sonyia and Jimmie Petenbrink, Talladega, Ala., Sherry and Michael Bortmas, Montgomery, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Brown of Doerun, Ga., and a brother, Carol (Mervin) Brown of Doerun, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
