SMYRNA, Ga. -- James Edd "Jimmy" Williams, 67, of Smyrna, Ga., formerly of Doerun, Ga, died Sunday, December 17, 2017.
Graveside rites will be held 2:00PM Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Doerun Cemetery with Dr. David Benton officiating.
Born May 1, 1950 in Doerun, Ga., he was the son of the late J.C. Williams and Mary Edge Williams. Jimmy was a graduate of Doerun High School and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Valdosta State University. He farmed with his Dad after college and was a skilled woodworker. After leaving Doerun, he made his home in Smyrna with his sister Kip and brother-in-law Kirk for more than ten years. Jimmy was a man who would sacrifice for others, especially his family. He was devoted to his parents, taking care of them until the end of their days. Jimmy enjoyed his nephews who came down from Maine in the summer where he would build treehouses and take them fishing. He enjoyed spending time with them. Our Jimmy was a patient, kind and unselfish person, but more importantly he had a gentle soul. We love you Jimmy and will miss you greatly.
Survivors include his sisters, Garnette W. Hobbs of Auburn, Maine, and Mary Kip Woody and husband Kirk of Smyrna, Ga.; nephews, Christopher Hobbs and special friend Sara Austin, Zachary Hobbs and wife Tina, all of Maine.
The family will greet friends at the Doerun Community Center after the graveside service Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Doerun, PO Box 156, Doerun, Ga. 31744 where he was a longtime member.
