MOULTRIE, Ga. - Jack Neal Lanier, 80, entered his heavenly home Saturday, October 21, 2017 surrounded by family members.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Mr. Donald Bennett and Rev. Robert McCoy officiating. A private interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo.
Born May 4, 1937 in Moultrie, Georgia he was the son of the late Grady Lanier and Grace Horton Lanier. He lived his life as a farmer in the Autreyville community, was a long-time member of the Colquitt County Board of Education, and served as Sheriff of Colquitt County. His love for God and family was his strongest attribute.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Jean Lanier Saunders.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Mary Lou Dekle Lanier of Moultrie, GA.; children Jackie Sloan and Ricky of Moultrie, GA., Mitzi Edwards and Donnie of Moultrie, GA., Jana Petrey and Jim of Moultrie, GA., Paul Lanier Flanery and Michelle of Alabama; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two nieces.
He was a longtime supporter of the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Ranch and the family request memorials be made to the boys ranch at 5671 GA-122 Hahira, Georgia or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb Funeral Chapel.
