Hugh Hartley Palmer, 95, of Camilla died Wednesday, September 28, 2017, at Mitchell Convalescent Center in Camilla.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, at Oakview Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Keith Goodlett will officiate.
Born November 16, 1921 in Mitchell County, Mr. Palmer was the son of the late Daniel Barbour Palmer, Sr. and Wyolene Hartley Palmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla, the American Legion and the VFW. Mr. Palmer was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served in World War II, where he served as an aerial photographer. Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Maurice Palmer, and a sister, Ellen Taylor. He was renowned for his resourcefulness.
Survivors include a brother, Dan "Borea" Palmer, Jr. (Virginia) of Camilla; two sisters, Lucile Bostick of Camilla and Wyolene Bivins (Frank "Satch") of Moultrie; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and special friend, Johnny Shiver of Moultrie.
Memorials may be made to any veterans organizations or charity of choice.
