MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Hiller Monroe Gammage Jr., 87, of Moultrie, Ga. died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.
Graveside rites will be held 11:00AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Marston officiating.
Born February 15, 1930 in Montgomery, Ala., he was the son of the late Hiller Monroe Gammage Sr. and Nell Arnold Gammage. Mr. Gammage was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. While he served in the Army, he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, 2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation and a Bronze Star Medal. He received a degree in chemical engineering at Georgia Tech and retired from Southwest Georgia Bank as a financial planner. Mr. Gammage was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and past chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir. He was on the board of directors for Pineland School, member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Sons of Jubal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Parrish Gammage.
Survivors include his wife, Lasseter Dennard Gammage of Moultrie, Ga.; daughters, Patti Gammage Wells and husband Marcus of Moultrie, Ga., Kathy Gammage English and husband Thad of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Marcus Reed Wells Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Macon, Ga., William Cason Wells of Moultrie, Ga., Anna Parrish English and Kathryn Elizabeth English, both of Cumming, Ga.; great-grandchild, Isaac Ezra Wells of Macon, Ga.; sister, Freddie Gammage Dudley and husband James of Americus.
The family will greet friends after the graveside service on Friday at Westview Cemetery.
