DOERUN, Ga. -- Gerry Jean Hart Barker, 80, went to see "her Jesus" on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Doerun with Dr. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Tom Chatman, Jimmy Hembree, Larry Carlton, Ray Saunders, Frank Pearce and Ken Tate. The First Baptist Church of Doerun Homemakers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Born November 21, 1936 in Whittier, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Eugene Listman Hart and Mary Adeline Farley Hart. Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Doerun.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Phillip Barker, Jr.
Survivors include her son, John Phillip Barker, III and wife Debora of Doerun, Ga.; daughter, Katherine Lynn Cox of Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sarah Brittany McCranie, Ashley Paige Ball and husband Robert "Baller", Hannah Lindsey Barker; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Bennett, Anika Hancock and Jackson Robert Ball; sister, Judy Ann Clark of Atlanta, Ga.; beloved grand-dog, Chloe.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Doerun.
