MADISON, Ga. -- Foye Keaton Calhoun, 91, of Madison, Georgia died peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Talmage Terrace Assisted Living in Athens, Ga.
The funeral for Mrs. Calhoun will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Georgia. Reverend Julian Griner will officiate, and the soloist will be Fran Franklin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Calhoun was born June 18, 1925 in Mitchell County, Ga. to the late Thomas Jefferson Keaton and Minnie Lee Burnam Keaton. She graduated from Norman Park High School, and after graduation married her late husband, John Cecil Calhoun. They resided in Valdosta for many years and then built a beautiful home in Moultrie, Georgia where she resided until three years ago when she moved to Madison, Georgia. She was a home-maker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and fishing. She loved taking care of her family and her home. When she moved to the farm in Madison, she enjoyed watering the horses and picking up pecans to share with friends and family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Render Keaton, and sister, Merle Keaton McCarty.
Survivors include her daughter Sharon Cecilia and son-in-law Joseph Brogdon of Madison, Georgia; two granddaughters, Christi and her husband Joe Porto, and Elizabeth and her husband Michael Rose, all of Athens, Georgia; as well as her sister Bueris Keaton Crumpton of Moultrie, Georgia. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Miranda Pickens, Garrett and Rylee Rose, and Jenna and Bree Porto. Mrs. Calhoun had many special nieces and nephews.
