DOERUN, Ga. -- Elaine Gunter Massey, 69, of Doerun, Ga., died Monday, July 24, 2017 at Pruitt Health-Magnolia Manor.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 28, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Mr. Don Goodroe and Mr. Bradley Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.
Casketbearers will be Dean Hancock, Keith Brooks, Chris Brooks, Andy Hancock, Craig Brooks and David Carter.
Born October 14, 1947 in Moultrie, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Pierce "J.P." Gunter and Kittie Clyde Watson Gunter. Mrs. Massey retired from American Airlines as the Supervisor of gate personnel and was a member of Kimball United Methodist Church. Her family remembers how she loved working in the yard, with her flowers and enjoyed making crafts and baking cakes. Mrs. Massey was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with her three fur babies, Princess, Little Bit and Digger. She was very active in the Minton Community Center and served as the Treasurer for the Minton Community Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Gunter Stripling; brother, Billy Gunter.
Survivors include her husband, John Marion Massey, III of Doerun, Ga.; two step-children, Gabe Massey and fiancee Kristi Adams of Doerun, Ga., Kristin Merritt and Bryan of Sylvester, Ga.; caregiver, Kanaya "Pooh" McGee of Moultrie, Ga. and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 9:00AM - 10:00AM Friday, July 28, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
