Brown Macon Sonny Hall MOULTRIE, GA. -- Brown Macon "Sonny" Hall, 81, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Funston Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Shiver officiating. Inurnment will be in Funston Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Colquitt County June 21, 1937 to Era Vivian (Brown) and David Chesley Hall, Sonny was raised and educated in Colquitt and Cook counties. He graduated from Cook County High School in 1955 where it was reported that he read every fiction book that the library had cataloged. A voracious reader throughout his entire life, he loved all genres from westerns to crime mysteries and never missed a day reading the newspaper. Trained as a mechanic, Sonny was employed in various related aviation and automotive occupations throughout his working life (including as an airplane mechanic at Spence Field). He spent most of his career as an insurance adjuster and appraiser. Sonny loved to fish and enjoyed the water. He loved to water ski and spend time in the pool with his grandchildren. Papa taught his sons and grandchildren to swim and an appreciation for the preservation of nature's resources. He also enjoyed tinkering on anything mechanical from appliances to outboards and passed that love on to his sons and grandson.
Sonny was an active member of the Funston Baptist Church. He loved working and serving with the members of the church on various projects and outreach to new members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Hall Smith and Betty Hall Bradley.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Kay (Deariso) Hall, son Doug and Laura (Thompson) Hall, son Kevin and Amy (Baswell) Hall (deceased), grandchildren Carl Chesley and Leila Hall, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends after the service at Funston Baptist Church.
