MOULTRIE, Ga. -- Albert McAlpin, 85, of Moultrie, Ga., died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor in Moultrie, Ga.
Graveside rites, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with the Rev. James "Shot" Sellers officiating.
Mr. McAlpin's grandsons will serve as casketbearers.
Born July 28, 1931 in Moultrie, GA., he was the son of the late E.B. McAlpin and Hannah Lane McAlphin. He was a United States Army veteran and worked at Frostie Bottling Company for 13 years. Mr. McAlpin retired from Peachtree Housing as a group leader after 15 years of service and he was a hard worker and took pride in providing for his family. Mr. McAlpin is remembered for being a wonderful husband, a loving daddy and pa, and attended New Life Tabernacle Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randy Albert McAlpin; son-in-law, Roger Hilton; four brothers, Robert McAlpin, Wayne McAlpin, William McAlpin and Simp Gay; four sisters, Tennie Baggett, Mildred Baggett, Eva Martin and Lily Mae Whitney.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Griffin McAlpin of Moultrie, Ga.; two daughters, Lisa Carol Hilton, Jan Barfield and husband Murray, all of Moultrie, Ga.; four grandchildren, Roy Pate, II and wife Heather, Matt Hilton, Aaben Hilton, Justin Barfield and wife Kaitlin; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Pate, Gunner Pate, River Pate and Ethan Barfield.
